It's time for the St. John's IceCaps to decide who they are going to be this year: a team that's in the conversation for a Calder Cup title, or a team that will be swept aside by AHL clubs boasting NHL-caliber talent.

It looks like the St. John's IceCaps will have a crowded bus for the foreseeable future. While the club has trimmed two forwards from their opening night roster, their plans are carry on with a contingent of 28 players.

Season 2 started on the right foot at home for the St. John's IceCaps this past weekend. After being shut out by the Hamilton Bulldogs last year in their home debut, winning the first meeting of this two game series against the Adirondack Phantoms set the tone for a strong home campaign this season. In the second game on Saturday night the home side was unable to force overtime and lost 4-3.

The St. John's IceCaps split their first two games of the season this past weekend, and looking at some of the erratic play that the team displayed, one thing is clear: Head Coach Keith McCambridge is still playing catch up in terms of finalizing his roster.
